Nine is my favorite number. And one of the things I like about it is that there is an easy way to multiply it up to by ten.

I´ve hidden the first of my fingers -finger number one - because I am going to multiply nine by one. There aren´t any fingers in front of my hidden finger, but behind my hidden finger there are nine fingers. That is the result of multiplying nine by one: nine.

He escondido el primero de mis dedos - el dedo número uno - porque voy a multiplicar nueve por uno. Delante del dedo escondido no hay ningún dedo. Pero detrás del dedo escondido hay nueve dedos. Ese es el resultado de multiplicar nueve por uno: nueve.






Now I have hidden my second finger because I am going to multiply nine by two. There is one finger in front of my hidden finger and there are eight fingers behind my hidden finger. A one on the right and an eight on the left are 18. The result of multiplying nine by two is 18.

Now I am going to multiply nine by three. So I hide finger number three. Now I have two fingers on the right of the hidden finger and seven fingers on the left of the hidden finger. Three times nine is 27.

Remember that a zero to the left doesn´t count, but a zero to the right does! That´s why you have to write a zero behind the number of fingers in this picture.

Recuerda que un cero a la izquierda no cuenta, pero un cero a la derecha sí. Por eso debes escribir un cero detras del número de dedos que ves en la foto.
