Happy St. Patrick's Day and Dawn. Today, my mother wants to me to publish a post of hers. There it goes.
Women’s Day has been celebrated recently. I have found myself forced to inform the many people who have congratulated me for being a woman on that day that I am first a a PERSON and then a woman. And I would like to be seen that way. I do not mean by this that I do not recognize the enormous efforts that many wonderful people have made to better the situation of women in this world which is unjust to many different kinds of beings. But unfortunately, the world is still full of people who believe that women are only useful because they bring to this world men who in turn serve to be sent to confront other men in wars organized by bullies who rule in many parts of our world. There was a time when some believed that women could also serve for something better. They could avoid that their sons should be sent to kill and die in wars. But while there are women who suffer from the Stockholm syndrome as well as bullies ready to send the children of others to their deaths, peace seems to be difficult. And we will have to show gratitude to those who fight to protect us from the criminals who organize these shindigs. I am grateful. But soldiers are like doctors. Doctors are generally considered good, but they exist because illnesses exist. And illnesses are an evil. Soldiers, too, exist because the enemy exists, and an enemy is also an evil. I cannot reduce feminism only to petty quarrels about how this guy said this to me and did this to me because I wasn’t able to stop him in time or because I wanted something from him that I can’t get in another way than to do him a favor precisely because I am a woman and that he didn’t give me what I wanted anyway because he is a louse. There are far more important things that concern women than what goes wrong in a disco. And they aren’t being mentioned much or at all today.
In this post we offer a pacifist song and its translation to the Spanish. It is called I didn’t raise my boy to be a soldier, and it was written to avoid World War I. Women of the world, unite so your sons won’t be killed in wars was its message. The first chords of this song remind one of The Minstrel Boy , an Irish song we will also translate but in another post.
I DIDN’T RAISE MY BOY TO BE A SOLDIER
Ten million soldiers to the war have gone,
Who may never return again.
Ten million mother’s hearts must break
For the ones who died in vain.
Head bowed down in sorrow
In her lonely years,
I heard a mother murmur thro’ her tears:
I brought him up to be my pride and joy.
Who dares to place a musket on his shoulder
To shoot some other mother’s darling boy?
Let nations arbitrate their future troubles,
It’s time to lay the sword and gun away.
There’d be no war today,
If mothers all would say,
I didn’t raise my boy to be a soldier!
When she looks at her blighted home?
What victory can bring her back
All she cared to call her own?
Let each mother answer
In the years to be,
“Remember that my boy belongs to me!”
No habría guerras hoy

At Halloween all cats turn black, and so the Atshebies do, and when Lady Moon beams on them, the moon turns black cat too.
In the name of all our blogs, the Atshebies of Apple Island and Minced Forest wish you a very happy Halloween 2024.

As a disillusioned ghost, I am going from one place to another counselling people not to read Machiavelli´s book "The Prince." You know how they say that book was written for or about me? Well, look how I ended up. Stabbed more times than Julius Caesar.
Listen, my book can be read. What it can't be is used as a manual of instructions. I wrote it to portray a tyrant. Well, all tyrants. I couldn't state this openly because tyrants don't like to admit criticism. By the way, what are you two reading?
