Halloween Book and Film / Libro y Peli para Halloween

Como hay a quién le están picando los pulgares, aunque esperamos que nada malo se acerque a estos lares, vamos a recomendar un libro y una peli, ambas cosas buenas en nuestra opinión al menos. Puede que sean viejucos pero son una buena elección para actividad de Halloween. 

Since there are thumbs a-pricking, though we hope nothing bad will get to approach these parts, we will recommend a book and a film, both good things at least in our opinion. They may be oldies, but they are a good choice for a Halloween activity.

El libro es La Feria de las Tinieblas de Ray Bradbury, también llamado el carnaval en vez de la feria. Es sobre la posibilidad de perder el alma. 

The book is  Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury. It is about the possibility of losing one's soul.

Y la peli es El Carnaval de las Tinieblas, de la Disney. Hemos de advertir que tanto el libro como la peli pueden asustar a niños pequeños. Y quizás todavía más a gente más mayor. No los subestiméis.

And the film is Disney's Something Wicked This Way Comes.We must give warning. Both the book and the film might frighten little children. And maybe disturb older people even more. Don't subestimate them.

Posy Ring Suggestion / Sugerencia de sortija de flor y poesía

I saw them in an article about the 400th anniversary of the Bard. They were popular in his time and those sold by French bookdealers today are a bit expensive for secondary and high school students. But what does it matter? We´ve been gifted with an idea and we can make them with something like fimo. It´s a good activity for this very significant year. If I were you, I´d make and give out a few, choosing the inner inscriptions with tender care. It could brighten up or lighten up your day. 

Las he visto en un artículo sobre el 400 aniversario del bardo. Eran populares en su tiempo y las que venden hoy los libreros franceses son un poquito subidas de precio para estudiantes de bachillerato y secundaria. Pero ¿qué importa? Nos han regalado una idea y se pueden hacer con cosas como fimo. Es una buena actividad para este año tan significativo. Yo de vosotros haría y repartiría unas cuantas, escogiendo las inscripciones interiores con mimo y ternura. Te podría alegrar el día.

Report on Trip to Córdoba / Reportaje sobre el viaje a Córdoba

 

 Last April, 52 students went on a field trip to Córdoba. They were to visit the botanical gardens and the Cathedral-Mosque, and to interview tourists strolling in the city´s streets. El pasado abril, 52 alumnos fueron de excursión a Córdoba. Iban a visitar el jardín botánico y la Catedral-Mezquita y a entrevistar a turistas que paseaban por las calles de esta ciudad. Titanic Memorial Raffle / Sorteo Conmemorativo del Titanic



Today Sunday, April 15th, 2012  is the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. Tomorrow, Monday, we will raffle a few Vinolia soaps in class, exactly like the ones they used in the state rooms and Turkish baths of the Titanic, so that the fortunate winners can close their eyes and sniff it and imagine...that's up to them. You can get a huge big one if you are the best at singing the famous song of the film "Titanic" in perfect English without wandering too far out of tune.

Hoy domingo, 15 de abril, es el centenario del hundimiento del Titanic. Para conmemorar esta fecha mañana  lunes sortearemos unos cuantos jaboncitos Vinolia en clase, exactos a los que se utilizaban en los camarotes de primera y baños turcos del Titanic, para que los afortunados puedan cerrar los ojos e imaginarse que...eso es cosa de ellos. Te puedes llevar uno enorme si eres el/la que mejor canta la famosa canción de la película en perfecto inglés y sin desafinar demasiado.
