Puck

31 days on strike.

31 días de huelga.

Fergus

Reeeeesist, Robiiiiiiiin!

¡Reeeeesiste, Robertoooooooo!

Michael

Dad, we aren´t deaf! Yet.

Papá, no estamos sordos. Todavía.

Fergus

You might not be deaf but you´re a blackguard. Why didn´t you tell me Robin was on strike in your blog? You know very well there is no riot for justice´s sake I won´t participate in.

Michael

Because I´m scared of what you might do. This is a peaceful strike. How did you learn about this?

Fergus

I had to hear the news from a bunch of gamblers who were making bets on how long Robin could remain sitting there. He´s so nervous, and always busy doing something or another that no one understands how he could remain still for so long.

Michael

You haven´t made a bet, have you?

¿No habrás hecho tú una apuesta?

Fergus

Who do you take me for? I´m here to see to it that my friend wins this struggle. Puck, you are no longer alone. Look who has come to support you!

Nick Bottom

Nick Bottom, in representation of the guild of weavers!

Francis Flute

Francis Flute, representative of the bellows-menders.

Peter Quince

Peter Quince, here for the carpenters!

¡Perico Membrillo, aquí por los carpinteros!

Tom Snout

Tom Snout, for the tinkers!

¡Tomás Hocico, por los caldereros!

Robin Starveling

Robin Starveling, for the tailors!

¡Roberto Hambrón, por los sastres!

Snug

And I, Snug! Representative of the joiners!

Y yo, Comodón. ¡Representante de los ebanistas!

Fergus

And look what we brought with us!

Michael
That´s why! That´s why I didn´t say anything!

¡Por eso! ¡Por eso no dije nada!

Señora Estrella
Don´t worry, little elf. We won´t let your father and his friends drink that on an empty stomach. I´ve an enormous pot of chickpeas here for them.

No te preocupes, duendecillo.

Alpin
I want to eat those chickpeas.

Yo quiero comerme ese cocido.

Señora Estrella
I have another pot exactly like this one just for you.

Fergus
It´s much beholden to ye I am, Doña Estrella. A finer cook there never was, lads. Not even in the gardens of Lucullus did they eat better than we will today.

Lucullus

I´m Lucius Licinius Lucullus. I insist on trying the chickpeas. I know more about food than the people from the Michelin Guide.

Moth (Polilla)

We´re also here.
Nosotras estamos aquí también.

Cobweb (Pelusa)

We´ve brought violins.

Hemos traído violines.

Mustardseed (Mostaza)

And drums.
Y tambores.

Peaseblossom (Flor de Guisante)

And we can all dance jigs and sing May songs.

Mungo Binky
What´s in that huge barrel?
¿Qué hay en ese enorme barril?

Fergus
´Tis not a barrel. ´Tis a gigantic jug, mister. Of the finest poteen to be had!

No es un barril. Es una jarra gigante, señor. Del mejor whisky irlandés del mercado.

Mungo Binky
Do you have a license to brew that?
¿Tiene licencia para fabricar eso?

Fergus
The widows have it. In Ireland, we buy whiskey from the widows, so they can earn a living, since they haven´t got husbands to support them. We´re solidary!
Somos solidarios.

Mungo Binky

And you mean to get drunk out here in public?
¿Y piensan emborracharse aquí en público?

Fergus

Listen, mister. I´m a professional shoemaker. And I´ve never been so tipsy that my hand trembled when I hammered on a nail. Never! I know when to stop. And my friends are responsible too.
¡Nunca! Yo se cuando parar. Y mis amigos son responsables también.

Mungo Binky

Well, whatever that is and whoever brewed it doesn´t much matter. Because you can´t drink that here. It´s forbidden to drink in the streets.

Fergus
Is it on a street that we are?
¿Es que acaso estamos en una calle?

Mungo Binky

Well then, it´s forbidden to drink in the open air.

Fergus

Since when?
¿Desde cuándo?

Mungo Binky

What does it matter since when? It´s forbidden now. You´d better disband or I`ll have you arrested for distubing the peace.

Fergus
What peace? Who are we disturbing? There´s no one here but us.
¿Que público? ¿A quién estorbamos? Aquí no hay nadie más que nosotros.

Mungo Binky

And that minor.
Y ese menor.

Michael

Alpin, go home with your mother.

Alpin, vete a casa con tu madre.

Alpin
I want to go with my Uncle Fergus.
Quiero ir con mi Tito Fergus.

Artemius

Scat, kid!
¡Largo, nene!

Alpin

Yow!
¡Ay!

Branna

You heard the lord of the forest. I´m taking you home.
Ya has oído al señor del bosque. Te voy a llevar a casa.

Mungo Binky

Everybody has to go. Or I´m having you all arrested!

Todo el mundo se tiene que ir. ¡U os voy a hacer detener a todos!

Alpin

I want to go to jail too!
¡Yo quiero ir a la cárcel también!

Michael

Shut up, Alpin. Nobody is going to go to jail.

Cállate, Alpin. Nadie va a ir a la cárcel.

Mungo Binky

Yes, they are.
Sí que irán.

Michael

That´s impossible, Binky. There is no way you can have anyone arrested.

Mungo Binky

And why not?

¿Y por qué no?

Michael

Because there has never been a police force in Fairyland. Who would do the arresting?

Mungo Binky
Oh. Well, that´s right. That´s another thing our government lacks. But...he can do it! You. The individual who patrols this forest. Arrest all this people.
Ah.

Artemius

I don´t have a work permit. Don´t count on me.

No tengo permiso de trabajo. No cuente conmigo.

Mungo Binky

This is getting out of hand. Where on earth is Glorvina? She said she would bring Oberon here.

Moles
She´s in Bambito, Panama.

Está en Bambito, Panamá.

Beware of Bird / Guárdate de Pajaro

This is a draft. / Es borrador.
It has to be revised. / Hay que revisar esto.

Don Quijote

It´s useless. I´ll never learn to pronounce English properly. Understand, I already understand practically everything. And I can read perfectly. But not out loud. For example, have a look at this rhyme.

"Beware of bird,
that dreadful word,
that looks like beard
but rhymes with heard."

"Guárdate de pájaro,
temible palabra,
que se parece a barba
y rima con oí."

Bird se pronuncia algo asi como berd.
Word algo asi como werd.
Beard algo asi como bird.
Y heard parecido a jerd.

They say English vowels are lovely. Well, they´re giving me a headache worse than Darcy´s.

Michael

Don´t worry. I have a similar problem with Spanish accents. The stress mark drives me nuts.

I remember a rhyme in Spanish that goes:

"In Roman times
there were barbarians
that climbed trees
and ate birds."

Recuerdo unos versos en español que dicen:

"En tiempos de los rómanos
Había unos barbaros
Que se subían a los arboles
Y se comían a los pajaros."

I´m not sure I even copied that right in Spanish.

Sir George Bernard Shaw

Well, it´s not my fault this problem still exists. I left money in my will so they would create a new phonetic alphabet for the English language.

Don Quijote

¿And does it exist?

¿Y existe?

Sir George Bernard Shaw

Yes, it´s called the shavian alphabet.

Sí, se llama alfabeto shaviano.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shavian_alphabet

Fergus

´ow d´ya pernounce "shawian," me lad?

¿Co´ se pronunsia "choyano", me muchacho?

Sir George Bernard Shaw

If we weren´t both Irish, I wouldn´t know that he is joking. I would throw a fit.

Michael

Dad, I told you to speak standard English so as not to confuse my pupils.

Don´t worry, Alonso. You´ll learn. I´m very lucky. I don´t have that many pupils. I hear in some secondary schools there are about thirty kids in an English class.

No te preocupes, Alonso. Tú aprenderás. Yo tengo mucha suerte. No tengo tantos alumnos.

Darcy

Yes, I know who you are. You´re Glorvina, Titania´s friend. I didn´t recognize you at first because you´ve done something with your hair haven´t you?

Glorvina

I haven´t had time to curl it. Darcy, I haven´t come to see Titania. I have to speak with you about something very important.

No he tenido tiempo de rizarmelo. Darcy, no he venido a ver a Titania.

Darcy

Important for whom?

¿Importante para quien?

Glorvina

For everybody. Have you seen Oberon?

Para todos. ¿Has visto a Oberón?

Darcy

Not since yesterday. He tried to persuade me to leave Titania and go work for him.

Glorvina

And will you?

¿Y lo harás?

Darcy

No way. I love my life. There´s nothing in it I would change.

Ni hablar. Me encanta la vida que llevo. No hay nada que quiera cambiar.

Glorvina

Did Oberon take no for an answer?

¿Aceptó Oberón un no por respuesta?

Darcy

He never does. He said he´d be back with an offer I couldn´t resist.

Glorvina

¿And will you resist it?

¿Y la resistiras?

Darcy

I already told you. My life is perfect. I have everything I want. And there´s nothing Oberon can give me that I can´t take for myself.

Glorvina

That´s true. You have a very special power. When you ask someone for something, that someone has to give it to you. Nobody can say no to you. Now, I hope you won´t say no to me,
because I have to ask you for a favor.

Darcy

You want me to take you somewhere?

¿Quieres que te lleve a alguna parte?

Glorvina

I want you to ask Oberon to foget about asking you to work for him.

Darcy

Wish granted. I was going to do it anyway.

Deseo concedido. Lo iba a hacer de todos modos.

Glorvina

Thank you. I owe you one. You have no idea the problem you´ve just solved. And speaking of ideas, do you have any idea where Oberon is right now?

Gracias.

Darcy

No idea, no ideas. Don´t make me think. I´ll have a headache.

Rupert and Swithin

Darcy, this power you have - hasn´t anyone tried to kidnap you and force you to use it to do evil?

Darcy

On occasion. But I ask them to leave me be and they have to.

Rupert and Swithin

By the way, Darcy, are you related to a family of elves named Greenleaf?

Darcy

I don´t know. I´ll ask my mother. Why?

No lo se. Se lo preguntaré a mi madre. ¿Por qué?

Rupert and Swithin

You kind of look like one of them.

Te pareces algo a uno de ellos.

Darcy

He must be gorgeous.

Debe ser guapísimo.

Glorvina

Have you ever thought of using your power to do good?

Darcy

I can´t think about that today. I have to go see a man about a horse.

Glorvina

I won´t bother you any longer today then. I have to go find Oberon.

Entonces no te molestaré mas hoy. Tengo que ir a buscar a Oberón.

Rupert and Swithin

We know where he is. He went to see a fellow we have to keep both eyes on. Have to watch that guy real closely, we do.

Sancho

I have to write a formal letter for my English class. I am a practical person, so if I take the trouble to write a letter, I don´t want to throw it in the recycling bin once my teacher has seen it. I mean to send the letter I write.

Now, who would I, Sancho Panza, want to send a formal letter to? Read my letter and you´ll know the answer.

I´m telling you TODAY that:

Te estoy diciendo HOY que:

TOMORROW is Earth Day.
We only have one.

MAÑANA es el día de la Tierra. No hay mas que una.
