April is the month of Venus Aphrodite, goddess of beauty and love. Venus came out of the ocean with the sea foam, that was how she was born. Her birds are sparrows and doves and her flowers are roses.

Abril es el mes de Venus Afrodita, diosa de la belleza y el amor. Venus salió de la espuma del mar, así es como nació. Sus pájaros son los gorriones y las palomas y sus flores son las rosas.







Venus had many lovers but her favorite was probably Adonis. He was very handsome, and his name comes from a Semitic word that means "lord." But because he was so handsome, even today, when we want to say a young man is gorgeous we say he is an "Adonis." Venus loved Adonis so much that Mars, the god of war, was jealous and sent a wild boar to kill him. Adonis loved to hunt and he couldn´t resist trying to capture the boar.

Venus tenía muchos amantes pero su favorito probablemente era Adonis. Era muy guapo y su nombre viene de una palabra semita que significa "señor." Pero como era tan guapo, incluso hoy en día, cuando queremos decir que un hombre joven es guapísimo decimos que es un "Adonis." Venus estaban tan enamorada de Adonis que Marte, el dios de la guerra, se puso celoso y mandó a un jabalí a matarle. A Adonis le encantaba cazar, así que no pudo resistir intentar capturar al jabalí.




Venus heard Adonis shout when the boar wounded him mortally. She run to him, pushing her way through bushes full of thorns. Her blood and her tears turned into roses, and that is how the first roses were born. When she reached Adonis, there was nothing she could do but watch him die in her arms. The blood of Adonis fell on some white flowers and turned them into red anemones. Anemones bloom in the spring, but they don´t last long, like Adonis, who died very young.

Venus escuchó el grito de Adonis cuando el jabali le hirió de muerte. Corrió a él, atravesando matorrales llenos de espinas. Su sangre y sus lagrimas se convirtieron en rosas, y así es como nacieron las primeras rosas. Cuando llegó hasta Adonis, no pudo hacer nada mas que verle morir en sus brazos. La sangre de Adonis cayó sobre algunas flores blancas y las convirtió en anemonas rojas. Las anémonas florecen en la primavera, pero no duran mucho, como Adonis, que murió joven.
