Two Christmas Songs / Dos Canciones de Navidad

Hi. Here are two songs that were written to convince people they should contribute to just causes.

Hola. Esto va sobre dos canciones que se escribieron para convencer a la gente de que hay que contribuir a causas justas.
The first song shows us how this was done in the Middle Ages, though it was written in the nineteenth century.

La primera canción nos enseña como se hacía esto en la Edad Media, aunque se escribió en el siglo diecinueve.

A kind king leaves the comfort of his castle and goes out into the bitter cold to make the life of a poor man a little more bearable. As the song progresses the bitter cold becomes warmth, the warmth of love. The king is a saint because he has done this, and at the end of the song people are invited to follow his example, that is to be kind to those less forunate, especially to contribute to the wellbeing of those in need.

Un rey amable abandona las comodidades de su castillo y sale al terrible frío del crudo invierno para hacer que la vida de un hombre pobre sea un poco más llevadera. Conforme avanza la canción, el frío helador se vuelve calor - el calor del amor. El rey es un santo por haber hecho esto y al final de la canción nos invitan a seguir su ejemplo, es decir, a ser amables con los menos afortunados, sobre todo a contribuir al bienestar de los necesitados.

The second song was written to defend the rights of animals. The style is totally different -far more aggressive - but the purpose is the same, to get people to work for a cause. The idea is that Santa, who is already a saint, has to do things even better to adapt to the changing times.
But we´re not that different from what we were like in the Middle Ages. If you don´t believe me, ask St. Francis of Assisi what he thought about animals.
La segunda canción defiende los derechos de los animales. El estilo es totalmente distinto -bastante más agresivo- pero el propósito es el mismo, influir en la gente para que trabajen por una causa. La idea es que San Nicolás, que ya es santo, haga las cosas aún mejor para adaptarse a los tiempos que cambian. Pero no somos tan distintos de lo que eramos en la Edad Media. Si no me crees, pregunta a San Francisco de Asís lo que piensa de los animales.
