Strike 4: Back from Bambito / Huelga 4: De regreso de Bambito

Puck

32 days on strike. Fergus, do you think Oberon will fire me?

32 días de huelga. Fergus, ¿crees que Oberón me despedirá?

Fergus

Of course not. You would quit your job before that could happen. Puck, me lad, why don´t you forget about working for Oberon and think about running your own business? You´re clever. You´d do very well. I myself could never work for anyone but myself. I´m very independent. I couldn´t put up with a boss.

Puck

I kind of like working for Oberon. It´s just that this time he´s hurt my feelings.

Fergus

Well, any of us here would be willing to teach you a trade if you wanted us to. You would make a great shoemaker.

Nick Bottom

Or a weaver.

O tejedor.

Tom Snout

Or a tinker.

O calderero.

Francis Flute

Or a bellows-mender.

O remiendafuelles.

Snug

Or a joiner.

O ebanista.

Peter Quince

Or a carpenter.

O carpintero.

Robin Starveling

Or a tailor.

O sastre.

Michael

Or an English teacher. You speak so beautifully on the stage.

I know of a theatre where you could be an actor.

Puck

Yes, I guess I could be an actor. But I kind of like working for Oberon. He´s always up to something.

Sí, supongo que podría ser actor. Pero me gusta bastante trabajar para Oberón. Siempre se trae algo entre manos.

Oberon

I certainly am! And here I am to prove it!

¡Sí que traigo algo! ¡Y aquí estoy para mostrároslo!

Glorvina

Oberon, think twice. You don´t want to do this.

Oberón, recapacita. Tú no quieres hacer esto.

Oberon

Shut up already, spoilsport seeress! You´ve been hounding me all the way back from Bambito. ¡Tachan!

¡Tachan!

Puck

What on earth is that?

¿Qué rayos es eso?

Oberon

It´s Bond´s Car. James Bond´s.

Es el coche de Bond. James Bond.

Puck

Mad!

¡Jopeta!

Oberon

Aren´t you dying to drive it?

¿No te mueres por conducirlo?

Puck

Who, me?

¿Quién, yo?

Mungo Binky

Do you have a driving license, Goodfellow?

¿Tienes carnet de conducir, Buencompañero?

Puck

Of course not. Nobody in Fairyland has a driving license. Nobody has un automobile.

Oberon

Give him one this minute, Binky.

Dale uno ahora mismo, Binky.

Mungo Binky

He´s got to have classes first. And he´s got to pass a test. It´s not easy. I´m going to make it really difficult. I don´t want accidents.

Tiene que ir a clases primero. Y tiene que aprobar un examen. No es fácil. Lo voy a poner dificilísimo. No quiero accidentes.

Michael

I think that for once we are agreed, Binky.

Oberon

I said give him one this minute!

Glorvina

Oberon, fool, you´re not going to introduce petrol in the world of the fairies! Look at what you have and are about to lose just to get places first.

Oberon

And why not? What have you got against progress, reactionary?

¿Y por qué no? ¿Tú que tienes contra el progreso, reaccionaria?

Glorvina

That´s not progress! Look what it´s doing to humans! Look what it´s doing to us! Every day that goes by one or more of us have to leave our homes and find refuge in gutters. Fairies used to look like leaves and flowers and now they look like rats and roaches. That´s because every day there are less and less plants and flowers and more and more rats and roaches, hiding in an underworld beneath the cities. Oberon, what is happening to our people?

Oberon

That´s a perfectly natural process. Things change. People change. Fairies change.

Es un proceso perfectamente natural. Las cosas cambian. La gente cambia. Las hadas cambian.

Glorvina

But not for the better. Because life is really rough and ugly there.

Oberon

Look here, Glorvina, if you don´t believe in evolution, you can go cross the water and live with the defeatists from Avalon on the other side of the mists. They´ve got plenty of peace and quiet and flowers there. They ignore humans and humans ignore them.

Glorvina

¿You are asking me to give up my life? You are telling me I have to go?

¿Me pides que renuncie a mi vida? ¿Me dices que me tengo que ir?

Oberon

Ask anyone with common sense and they will tell you things change. And it´s always for the better. Alright, so you might not be able to see the stars when you look up at the sky. Butl you can look for the beauty in the garbage.

Glorvina

I won´t deny it can be found even there. But, Oberon, is this necessary? Fall who may?

¿Caiga quien caiga?

Oberon

It´s evolution, Glorvina. Plants are over. Machines will rule the world. Anyone would prefer to drive this car than one of my old chariots. Ask Darcy. Eh, Darcy, it´s not going to be easy to say no to me now, is it? Bet you can´t resist this car.

Pregúntale a Darcy.

Glorvina

Darcy, you promised.

Darcy, lo prometiste.

Darcy

Bah! There´s not a thing that car can do one of my magic horses can´t. Humans may need petrol. I don´t. There´s nothing I need I don´t have.

¡Bah!

Oberon

Can they gallop under water?

¿Pueden galopar bajo el agua?

Darcy

Yes. I´ve been to see Neptune more than once. And I flirt successfully with the merrows.

Sí. He ido a ver a Neptuno más de una vez. Y ligo con las merrows cantidad.

Oberon

Are you saying you don´t want to drive this car?

Darcy

Oberon, I´m asking you formally to forget about asking me to be your driver. And you have to do it. I have the power.

Oberon

What´s this? What happened? Where am I?

¿Qué es esto? ¿Qué ha pasado? ¿Dónde estoy?

Glorvina

Puck, just take him home. It´s over.

Puck, sólo llevatelo a casa. Esto se ha acabado.

Oberon

What´s over? What happened? I´m as blind as a bat.

¿Qué ha acabado? ¿Qué ha pasado? Estoy mas ciego que un murciélago.

Rupert and Swithin

Or a mole.

O que un topo.

Oberon

I have a car. I remember I have a car. In my car? You´re taking me home in my fancy new car?

Tengo un coche. Recuerdo que tengo un coche. ¿En mi coche? ¿Me vas a llevar a casa en mi cochazo nuevo?

Puck

I think we´d better walk.

Creo que es mejor que vayamos andando.

Rupert and Swithin

Be careful. You don´t want to fall into one of our holes.

Tened cuidado.

Puck

We´ll be very careful because I can hardly walk from sitting still so long.

Oberon

I´m not going until I understand what´s happening here. I don´t know what´s happening but it´s all Darcy´s fault. No, Titania´s! She must have made him do this to me! I remember now. All her henchwomen were here.

Peaseblossom

We´re here because we´re practicing for May Eve. Are you ready for the party, Oberon?

Oberon

May Eve! I have to preside that party and I´m blind! What will my people think? What will Titania say? Titania is going to laugh at me!

¡La vispera de Mayo! ¡Tengo que presidir esa fiesta y estoy ciego!

Glorvina

Nobody is going to laugh at you. None of us here will breathe a word of this to anyone.

Cobweb

Nobody is going to tell Titania. If we did, she would buy the Knight Rider.

Mustardseed

And Barbie´s limousine.

Y la limusina de Barbie.

Moth

And she would reserve the car from the next yet to be made Bond movie before you could. And she might buy herself a fleet of rockets. We´re fairies, not martians.

Somos hadas, no marcianas.

Michael

And we don´t want any of that to happen, believe me.

Oberon

Horrors! I´ll have to pretend to be playing blindman´s buff at the party.

Darcy

You´ll be fine in a day or two. The eye thing doesn´t last long.
¿Can I take you home??

Estarás bien en un día o dos. Eso de los ojos no dura mucho.
¿Os puedo llevar a casa?

Oberon

No! Get out of my sight! ¡Puck, I´m outraged! I´m going to be the laughingstock of the fairy world. ¿What can I do?

¡No!¡ ¡Fuera de mi vista! Puck, me siento ultrajado!

Nick Bottom

Laugh, Oberon. That´s what Titania and I did when you made us the butt of your famous practical joke.

Francis Flute

And what we did when everything went wrong with our play, "Pyramus and Thisbe."

Robert Starveling

Yes, when something goes ridiculously wrong the best thing to do is laugh.

Puck

Look at it this way, boss. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. When you fought with Titania over her Hindu page, she lost. This time you wanted her driver, you lost. You´re even. Next time we´ll win. It´s our turn again.

Oberon

In truth, I lost because you didn´t second me. All this is your fault. I´m not such a bad employer. I don´t deserve -

En realidad he perdido porque tu no me has apoyado. Todo esto es por tu culpa. No soy tan mal jefe. No me merezco...

Glorvina

Oberon, that´s enough! Let bygones be bygones.

¡Oberón, ya basta! Pon fín a esto.

Oberon

I´m glad I have a sense of humour. Yes, this is one of those times you just have to laugh. Fine. I´ll laugh. But remember you promised not to tell Titania. I´ll laugh while she doesn´t.

Vale. Me reiré.

Fergus

With these people it´s always the same. Much ado about nothing. In my time-

Con esta gente siempre es igual. Mucho ruido y pocas nueces. En mis tiempos-

Michael

Dad! Let´s get a move on. It´s late.

¡Papá! Vamos andando, que es tarde ya.
