Me jubilé el día de los docentes / A retiree since World Teachers' Day

This blog was created by its author purely for her own enjoyment and that of her pupils. Yours too, of course, if you please. Neither fee nor flattery was received for the effort, which was wonderful for the blog's much cherished independence. Those activities which were chosen to be used in class were all well received, especially if they involved singing. Teacher and pupils thank everyone who has helped us learn with information and images found on the Internet. The Mini Mythology is from a birthday book created many years ago for the then children of the illustrator's family. So far there are only three copies in existence so each is worth a million fairypence except for the original made by hand which is naturally priceless. The Toora Chronicles were created for a laugh despite their pessimism and at the Leafies insistent request will continue elsewhere as Tales of a Minced Forest if they don't go on in this blog, which they might. All that is left to say is that this blog came like water and may be going like wind. But perhaps it will shower here once in a while, if only for the sake of the rainbows.

Discontent in the Garden / Descontento en el Jardin

Arley

We are the garden
A bunch of blooming plants
We are the garden
Our gardeners have feet
And boast they have a head
But most of all they have hands
One day they declare us weeds
And pluck us out at their will
To plant
Something else
Allowed to flower
In our place
We are the garden
A bunch of helpless plants
In an enclosed space

Somos el jardín
Un montón de plantas florecientes
Somos el jardín
Nuestros jardineros tienen pies
Y presumen de tener cabeza
Pero sobre todo tienen manos
Un día nos declaran malas hierbas
Y nos arrancan a su antojo
Para plantar
A otras
A las que permiten
Florecer en nuestro lugar
Somos el jardín
Un montón de plantas indefensas
En un espacio cerrado

Oberon

One, two, three, kick, Conga! One, two, three, kick, Conga!  Oh, my, Arley! You didn’t write that, did you? What a dreadful poem!

¡Un, dos, tres, patadita, conga! ¡Un, dos, tres, patadita, conga!
¡Caray, Arley! ¿No habrás escrito tú eso, verdad? ¡Que poesía más espantosa!

Vinny / Vicentico

No! It´s beautiful! I’m moved to tears!

¡No! Es preciosa. Me ha conmovido hasta hacerme llorar.

Frankie / Curro

It has made me glad to be a free plant living in a wild forest.

Oberon

Nonsense! It’s  worse out here! Haven’t you got anything better to be doing, son? Why are you out here alone?

¡Sandeces!

Arley

I´m not alone. I’m with my friends the Leafies.

No estoy solo. Estoy con mis amigos los Hojita.

Bob / Robertín

Right! We may be small and unimportant but we´re always here for those who need us.

¡Cierto!

Oberon

Where is that kid in red who is your girlfriend or something like that?

Arley

Rosina and Mum are busy fighting a war about the recycling business. They have no time to do anything but try to predict each other’s next mean move.

Oberon

Well, then come with me and help me find something I am looking for.

Arley

The missing Rhine gold?

¿El desaparecido oro del Rin?

Oberon

Nah! That gold sometimes changes hands but it always ends up back in its original hiding place sooner or later. It´s probably back there already.
What I’m looking for is my first love,  the Valkyrie Little Mathilda.

¡No!
