Today is the coming of Bride, goddess of light and fire, bringer of Spring, patroness of poets and healers and blacksmiths, a very great blacksmith herself.
When the world of the Druids became Christian, Bride became St. Bride, midwife of Mary and exemplary nun.
These paintings are by John Duncan, who formed part of a movement known as the Celtic Revival. More about all this when we have time.
