Michael! It´s us, Heather, Thistle and Arley! Where have you been? And where are your glasses?

¡Michael! ¡Somos nosotros, Brezo, Cardo y Arley!¿Pero dónde has estado? ¿Y dónde están tus gafas?

I lost them during one of those gatherings of belligerent elves my father goes to. The wizard Casimir, my ophthalmologist, will take a while to make me new ones. Magic spectacles have to be charged under the light of waxing moons before they can be used. At present I am doing with one contact lens lent me by my great friend, the fairy Moth, who is also rather shortsighted. With my other eye, I can’t even make out three people riding on a donkey. 

Las perdí durante una reunión de duendes beligerantes de esas a las que asiste mi padre. El mago Casimiro, que es nuestro oculista, tardará un tiempo en hacerme otras. Las gafas mágicas se tienen que cargar bajo la luz de lunas crecientes. De momento estoy funcionando con una lentilla que me ha prestado mi gran amiga el hada Polilla en un ojo. Ella también es algo miope. Con el otro ojo no veo ni tres montados en un burro.

Then there won´t be a Halloween party this year?

¿Entonces no habrá fiesta de Halloween este año?

One is foresighted. I have everything I need to celebrate Halloween with ready since August. I hired a caterer and an exterior decorator for this event way back then.  Branna already sent the invitations for me. With the help of a kind soul or two, who will have to deal with the unexpected, if everything goes according to plan there will be a Halloween party. I will dress as a pirate with a patch on my lensless eye. And I sure hope that this year we get to celebrate without incidents!

Uno es previsor. Tengo todo lo que necesitamos para celebrar Halloween preparado y listo desde el verano. Contraté a un restaurador y a un decorador de exteriores para este evento en agosto. Branna se ha encargado de mandar las invitaciones. Con la ayuda de algún alma caritativa o dos, para los imprevistos, si todo va bien, habrá fiesta de Halloween. Yo iré de pirata con un parche en el ojo sin lente. ¡Y espero que este año podamos tener la fiesta en paz!

We three are kind souls. We´ll help you. In fact, the little donkey is taking us to the woods to gather blackberries. We want to make one last blackberry cake this year. It will be for your party. 

Nosotros tres somos almas caritativas. Te vamos a ayudar. De hecho,  el borriquito nos está llevando al bosque porque queremos recoger moras para hacer un último pastel de esas frutas este año. Será para tu fiesta.

Pick those. They are big and juicy and the best to be had here.  But remember, girls, that this is the third and last harvest. If you wish to gather berries, you must do it before the first of November. 

Coged esas. Son grandes y jugosas y las mejores que hay aquí. Pero recordad, niñas, que  esta es  la tercera y última cosecha. Si queréis recolectar, tenéis que hacerlo antes del 1 de noviembre.

Yes. The forest offers you three harvests. But after that, it must keep what is left for its own, the forest creatures, so they can make it through the cold winter.

Sí. El bosque os ofrece tres cosechas. Pero después de eso tiene que quedarse con lo que sobra para los suyos, las criaturas del bosque, para que puedan sobrevivir durante el frio invierno.

You heard the tough guy, girls. So pick every last berry in the forest. Don´t leave a single puny, bruised, sour or dry berry unpicked. We won´t waste them. You can make jams and jellies for me to enjoy this winter.

Ya habéis oído al tío bruto, chicas. Así que recoged hasta la última baya que haya en el bosque. No dejéis ni una miserable baya canija, picada, agria o seca sin recoger. No las desperdiciaremos. Podéis hacer mermeladas y jaleas para que me las tome este invierno.
