The Smart Sisters

The Smart Sisters

Glorvina! Hoo are ye daein, like?

¡Glorvina! (En escocés) ¿Qué tal estás?

Glorvina

Brawlie! I sent for you because Mungo Binky needs to consult you.

(En escocés) ¡Fenomenal! Os hice llamar porque Mungo Binky necesita consultaros.

The Smart Sisters

Whit´s he on aboot noo?

(En escocés) ¿En que anda ahora?

Glorvina

Education.

Educación.

The Smart Sisters

Mungo! We´re here tae help! Our job is tae help fowk learn. Open yer lugs! Clear the tatties oot yer lugs so that ye´re ready tae listen! Noo, pey attention!

¡Mungo!

Alpin

How can they teach? They don´t know how to speak! I can´t understand a
word they are saying!

¿Como pueden enseñar? No saben hablar. No entiendo nada de lo que dicen.

Sabátíca

I think the wee bairn - erh, the bonnie lad - wants us to speak in English-English.

Fine. We´ll start at the beginning. My name is Sabática. I´m the fariy woman that grants desperate teachers a sabatic year.

Vale.

Spiridoola

I´m Spiridoola. When television was invented, my beloved husband Donald was very enthusiastic. He slipped into a TV set to explore its educational possibilities. Now he is lost in a labyrinth of TV junk and he can´t find his way out. I always have the TV on because once in a while I hear his voice. He´s easy to recognize. He´s the only one that says something sensible.

Soy Espiridula.

John Logie Baird

I! I´m Scottish and I invented television!

¡Yo! Yo soy escocés e inventé la televisión.

Luxviminda

Be a little patient, Mr. Baird. You´ll be featured on the quiz.

Tenga un poco de paciencia, Sr. Baird. Va a aparecer usted en el quiz.

I´m Luxviminda. I take personal care of MacMor, our salmon of knowledge. Chasing after him keeps me young.

Soy Luxviminda.

Alpin

I want to eat MacMor! Smoked! I want lux!

¡Quiero comerme a MacMor! ¡Ahumado! ¡Quiero salmón ahumado!

Donald Telly

¡No minnows!

¡Pezqueñines no!

Alpin

MacMor is a minnow? He´s fat! He doesn´t look like a salmon. He looks like a globe fish.

¿MacMor es un pezqueñín? Está gordo. No parece un salmón. Parece un pez globo.

Luxviminda

Only very expert sushi cooks can prepare globe fish. You can be poisoned if you eat one that isn´t well cooked. MacMor isn´t the minnow. You are.

Woof MacTecla

Woof!

¡Wuf!

The Thane of Glamis and Cawdor and ex-king of Scotland

Dinna be daft, laddie! Don´t listen to these witches.

(En escocés) ¡No seas tonto, chiquillo! No escuches a estas brujas.

Sabática

Well! If it isn´t our one and only impossible pupil. We´ve helped thousands of people to learn. But it´s as if only this one failure of ours counts. What do you want, ex-majesty?

¡Vaya!

Michael

He´ll tell you in the next post. I´m starting to have trouble with this one.

Os lo dirá en la siguiente entrada. Estoy empezando a tener problemas con esta.

Meanwhile, look at the Grammar Broonie I bought for myself . You have to study some if you want to understand the sisters. The broonie sends you to the Scuil Wab.
