Third Conditional Review / Revisar el tercer condicional inglés

Sancho

I'm getting to be so good at this that I make more mistakes in Spanish than in English.

usa en el resultado: would, could o might + have + participio
(ojo, siempre es have, nunca has)
Examples:
If you had come with me, I would have gone to the theatre.
I couldn't have gone to Jane’s party if you hadn't taken me to her house in your car.
I might have gone to the picnic if I had felt better.
Quizás habría ido al picnic si me hubiese sentido mejor.

PRACTICE:
1. He _________(buy) the shirts if he _________ (have) enough money with him.
2. We _________(pick) you up at the train station if we _______ (know) you were coming to see us.
3. Sylvia _________ (open) the door if she__________ (know) you were the one knocking.
4. I ___________ (study) for the test if I __________ (not take)  my grandma to the hospital.
5. They _________ (see) you dance on TV if you __________ (tell) them you would be on that show.
6. I___________ (choose) to study French if I _________ (know) Pierre would be my teacher.
7. The girls ____________ (not give) their old clothes away if they __________ (know) Tina wanted them.
8. She ____________ (not sell) her apartment if her parents ___________ (not buy )her a new house.
9. I __________ (not plant) olive trees in your garden if I _____________ (know) you were allergic to them.
10. If the weatherman ________________ (not say) it would rain, we _______________(go) birdwatching.

If that shoe hadn’t lost a nail, my kingdom would not have been lost.

For want of a nail the shoe was lost.
For want of a shoe the horse was lost.
For want of a horse the rider was lost.
For want of a rider the message was lost.
For want of a message the battle was lost.
For want of a battle, the kingdom was lost.
All for the want of a nail!

Yes/ no questions:
La condición es igual, pero el resultado empieza por would, could o might seguido del sujeto y luego have y el participio.
Examples:
If Gracie hadn’t married Jim, would she have married Bob?
Would you have helped me if you had known I needed your help?
If we had asked her to, could Sara have come to the meeting?
Might John have finished his work on time if we hadn’t interrupted him?

PRACTICE:
1. ________ Alice ________ (eat) the fish if her mother __________ (cook) it?
2. _______ Alfred _________ (study) medicine if he __________ (pass) the entrance exam with better marks?
3. _________ we __________ (find) the treasure if we ____________ (not lose) the map the old pirate gave us?
4. ________ Peter __________(be) rich today if he _________ (not invest) in his uncle’s business?
5. _________ John___________ (marry) Sandra if he ________ (suspect) she was really in love with Samuel?
6. _________ Alice _______ (open) the door if she _________ (not have) a key?
7. If Aurelia _________ (eat) the poisoned fruit, _______ she _______ (die)?

Wh- Questions:
Lo mismo que las otras pero en el resultado la palabra pregunta se coloca delante de would, could o might.
Examples:
What would you have done with the money if you hadn’t given it to Susan?
Where could you have spent your holiday if you had had enough money to go on a cruise?
If they had told Peter they were leaving in good time, might he have gone with them to Brazil?

PRACTICE:
1. Who _______ you ________ (name) your heir if you ________ (not decide) to leave your money to charity?
2. When ______ you ________ clean the garage if you ________ (have) time to do it?
3. Where ________ you ________ (hide) the papers if Alex _______ (trust) you with them?
4. Why ______ you _______ (give) so much money to Ron if he _______ (not be) blackmailing you?
5. From whom _________ Fenella ________ (steal) the keys if Raul _______ (not forget) to take them home with him?
